Hotel beds for dogs

It is that time of the year again, when dog-mad Britain is in the reign of the most famous dog show in the land, Crufts. Dogs of all shapes and sizes compete to take the crown of “best of show”, and of course they will need a beauty sleep to be on their best behaviour. So hotel chain Travelodge decided to provide them with just the ticket: specilaised doggie beds! there are king size beds for the bigger dogs, and pillow beds for the tiny pooches. Most of these are available in Birmingham, where the show s taking place and 300 furry friends have decended on the town. Beats a kennel any time!

Bin the bunny campaign

Anyone notice the new Playboy store on Oxford Street? It’s the first store of its kinds in Europe, and it is aimed at women, not men! They sell sexy lingery and fashion items, but it is no sex shop… a little bit like Anne Summers I guess. No really my think… I am not really into feathered pink thongs and tigerprint skirts if you catch my drift.

Still, I really liked the Anti-Porn UK campaign: Bin the Bunny! They want to boycot the store, and you may think of their views what you like, their logo is pretty cool :-) They also do great T-shirts with “Bugs Bunny won’t get my money” and “Eff off Heff” (referring to Playboy boss Hugh Heffner). You can get all their stuff at http://binthebunny.wordpress.com/shop/

Not sure if the Anti-Porn campaigners stand a chance against the Playboy empire, but at least they sell the more stylish gear!

London warning signs overload

Isn’t Britain just the most sign-mad country you have ever seen? Every day, us Londoners get bombarded by so many messages, announcements and warnings, that you would think just stepping outside your house is a life-threathening business. Mind the step. Look left. Look right. Look both ways. Thanks London, I’ll be at my most careful indeed.
Then you get to the station, and it just continues: alert a member of staff if you see unattended items. Smoking is not permitted. Mind the gap. Stand clear of the closing doors. And whatever you do, do not encourage beggars by giving them money.
Sometimes I just feel like I am 9 years old again, running out of the door with my mum crying out: do up your coat! Wear a scarf! Don’t talk to strangers!
So many thanks London for looking after me like a big mother hen, but I am fine thanks. At 28, I might just be able to get myself safely though the day!

Feeling the pinch?

Man, life in London is expensive at the best of times, but has it just got worse?! There must be some truth in the credit crunch stories I guess, as just about everything seems to be getting more expensive. Luckily London is full of bounty for a dedicated bargain-hunter like me… long live Primark! Loving the markets as well, definitely Pettycoat Lane and Spitalfields. Guess the stall on the picture is just the ticket ;-)
